RANDALL R. CARLSON, EA, ABA, ATA, ATP, ARA

President / Speaker

As president of Professional Tax Institutes, Inc., Randy has been in public practice for more than four decades, just finishing his 43rd tax season. He is a graduate of Kansas State University, enrolled to practice before the IRS and holds all four ACAT credentials. Randy is a managing director at Sink, Gordon & Associates, LLP in Manhattan, KS, as well as the office manager of the firm’s branch in Clay Center, KS.  Randy has lectured nationally for more than 20 years.

For the past 28 years Randy has been part of a radio broadcast team covering local high school sports. He is an avid outdoorsman and sportsman, has been involved with youth sports for many years, serves his church and community, and treasures time at home whenever he can get it.

His wife, Suzi recently retired from the Kansas House of Representatives, where she served following a 21-year Municipal Judge career. Randy and Suzi have three grown children in Kansas and Illinois and three granddaughters, ages 10, 7, and 2.

PAUL C. BUMGARNER, EA, ABA, ATA, ATP, ARA

Paul is a sole practitioner in Charlotte, NC.  After opening his practice in 1974, he became an enrolled agent in 1977. Paul attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is a graduate of Central Piedmont Community College with a degree in accounting. He has served as a seminar speaker for various accounting organizations for more than 35 years, 20 of which were as a farm and small business tax instructor for NC State University.

Paul is a past president of the National Society of Accountants and North Carolina Society of Accountants. Active in the bowling community, he is also a former president of the Southeast Bowling Association and was elected to the SBA Hall of Fame in 2011. He served as executive director of the Charlotte Bowling Association, Inc.

Paul has been involved in the local community for many years, serving as a charter member and president of the Rotary Club of North Mecklenburg County. As well as usher co-chair at the Providence United Methodist Church for over 30 years; he has served as president of the Christian Home Class three times over the past 41 years.

Paul was blessed with a loving wife, Marie until her death on June 24, 2020 as a result of a brain tumor and surgery.  After surgery, she had a massive stroke that took her life. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in April 2020, along with their two wonderful daughters, Penny and Renee and two equally fantastic grandchildren Jasmine and Jeffrey. Jasmine blessed them with their first great- grandson, Graysen, on July 5, 2015 and first great-granddaughter, McKinnley Marie, on September 19, 2018.

Ronald D. Powell, EA

Speaker, Webmaster, Webinar Host, IT

Ron served in the US Air Force for 24 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2005 at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina.  In 1996, he purchased Powell & Powell Accounting, Inc. in Asheboro, NC from his father, Wade J. Powell, who established the firm in 1980.  Ron says working with his dad for almost 10 years was one of the best times in his career.  In April 2020, Ron retired from public practice and sold his firm, Powell & Powell Accounting.

Ron is a graduate of East Carolina University, BA, and a graduate of Webster University, MA, summa cum laude.  He has more than 26 years of experience in accounting and tax preparation.

He is enrolled to practice before the IRS and has been presenting continuing education programs for over 18 years.  He joined Team PTI as a speaker in 2017.

Ronald is a Past-President of the North Carolina Society of Accountants (NCSA), and a member of the National Society of Accountants (NSA).  As an Enrolled Agent, he is also a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) and North Carolina Society of Enrolled Agents (NCSEA).

He has been married to his wife, Latefa, since 1981. They have twins, Amanda and Robert.  In 2020, Ron & Latefa retired and moved to Ocean Isle Beach, NC.  They are enjoying traveling across the United States and various parts of the world.

Frances J. Coet, CPA/CFF, CVA, CFP®, MAFF

Fran co-owned Coet 2 CPAs, PC with her husband John Coet, which prepared more than 1,100 business and personal returns annually, for thirty-three years.   After her husband’s death in 2019, she became a partner with the successor firm, ATLAS Advisors & CPAs, a regional CPA firm.  Fran has left the Front Range area of Colorado and relocated to the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay in Alabama.  She is licensed as a CPA in Colorado and Alabama, and since April of 2021, she is growing her boutique tax planning and preparation firm, A Dollar Here, A Dollar There, PC.

Fran worked for the IRS early in her professional career, assisting taxpayers through the then Problem Resolution Office, and was trained as an instructor. Leaving the IRS, Fran worked at a downtown Denver CPA firm, specializing in high-income and complex tax returns and litigation support. In addition to her tax knowledge and experience in estate planning, Fran has qualified as an expert witness regarding business valuations, professional ethics, and income tax issues in litigation environments. She was also an instructor and author of tax law topics for Gear-Up, owned by Thomson-Reuters, and has been providing similar services to PTI since 2018.

She graduated from Regis University, magna cum laude, with a major in business administration and a minor in economics. Fran was married to John, a CPA and CFP, for more than 35 years before his death. Between them, they have five children, a total of eighteen grand- and step-grandchildren, and one great-grand-daughter.

ANGELA R. KIDD, CPA

Speaker

Angela Kidd is the owner and principal of Kidd CPA, PLLC in Naples, Florida. Her firm supports a variety of clients and offers services that are uniquely tailored to each client's needs. She graduated from the University of St. Francis, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She has been a licensed CPA since 2005. 

Angela opened Kidd CPA, PLLC in 2010. The firm specializes in taxation, accounting, and consulting for individuals and small businesses. Having worked in both public and private industries, Angela uses this experience to create and deliver a superior level of support to her clients based on their unique circumstances. 

Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Angela is a licensed CPA in Indiana and Florida. She is member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Florida Institute of CPAs, and the National Association of Tax Professionals. Angela is a past board member of the Children’s Home Society and past president of the ABWA, Neapolitan Chapter. 

Angela lives in Naples with her husband, David, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
